Johnson or ......

Postby TheOstrich » 19 Dec 2021, 12:44

There's an opinion piece in the Daily Mail which has got me thinking. I'm no Christopher Hitchens fan, and he's obviously in tucks about it, but ....

Could "the Blair creature" make a comeback?

Well - if it did come down to a General Election choice between the charlatan buffoon Johnson and the creepy spin-doctoring Europhile Blair, I'd be very, very close to voting for Blair. Yes, really!
Even if it meant we'd ultimately finish up as part of the Federal States of Europe with the Euro and Schengen. ABJ - Anyone But Johnson.

What about you?

I am an AABJ - Almost Anyone But Johnson. I might also be persuaded to vote Labour for the first time in my life if it was one of the ways to achieve it.

Blair!? No way, Jose. There are things at the bottom of a cesspit that would get my vote before that slug.

Thankfully it is only Peter Hitchens saying these things, so they carry no weight. He needs a lie down in a dark room, padded, and a take a lot more water with his favourite tipple.... possibly go back to legal smokes.

This is all supposition but I really don't think that the Conservatives will go for a GE right now. They have a79 seat majority and after the North Staffs by election that majority would be in severe danger.
Blair may want to make a comeback, and probably does. Whether the Labour party actually wants him back is another matter. Starmer won't want him back, fairly obviously.
The odds on Johnson fighting the next election look fairly long. There are any number of ambitious backstabbers who want his job, plus he has many enemies in the party.
I wouldn't vote for Tony Blair either, he's beyond the pale as far as I'm concerned.

It is a long 3 years before the next election.

Speculation about an election now is a waste of brain cycles.

Speculating that Blair might get a chance to run again is, as WM says, the product of mind altering substances and that is a waste of excess brain cyles.
