And the numbers roll on

Postby Suff » 17 Dec 2021, 17:59

Two days ago. New cases +78,158 New deaths +165 serious or critical 896
Yesterday. New cases +88,195 New deaths +146 serious or critical 886
Today. New cases +93,045 New deaths +111 serious or critical 875

Spot the trend?

Granted these new cases will take a week or two to filter through. But these lower numbers have been around these levels for some time now.

Contrast for yesterday.

France New cases +60,866 New Deaths +188 Serious or critical 2,832
Germany New cases +53,057 New Deaths +479 Serious or critical 4,636

France and Germany are predominantly Delta. UK is heading on for predominantly Omicron.

That luminous twit Ferguson has been at it again.
His latest imbecility is to state that we could be facing 5,000 deaths a day in the new year.

Suff, but as Whitty tried to explain the other day we still have similar delta numbers (atm) giving similar figures as they always have; omicron overlays them but they are still there.

For example if you have 40,000 delta cases at 100% that's 40,000. If you have 90,000 cases and the split is 55% omicron to 45% delta then omicron is dominant, but you still have 40,000 delta cases giving something like the same old delta figures. What we need to see is a diminution in delta cases as omicron rises, and that is what everyone hopes for.

A week or so to wait yet. The signs are that it will happen. When is the key.

Cromwell, you know he's a nutter so just ignore. I have found that it is much better for your mental health.

I know, a week or two. That puts us around new year. Meanwhile they "protect" but we don't know if there is anything much to protect about.

Were this November I wouldn't give a damn. But allowing them to keep on doing this, over and over again, where the analysis of the numbers did not bear out their predictions, is not good for us.

Yes we've got more cases than ever recorded before. No we don't have more deaths than ever recorded before.

If we wanted to test for the common cold we'd find tens of millions of them. people do die from the common cold. Not many but they are there.

There has to be a sanity check. If Omicron is more like the common cold for the vaccinated, what does it matter how many cases there are? Except, of course, it actually protects against the delta variant because it tunes the immune system somewhat.

That's the frustrating bit. If they were taken to hell and back for their crazy predictions, every time, they would be far more wary about building up the measures. Because they are never held to account afterwards, no matter how far out they were, they do whatever they think will indemnify themselves from blame.

That's what I have been trying to do. We are not arguing against each other just looking at things from different angles.

Boosters given in the last few days do not kick in till the New Year, The time lag for cases etc, also does not kick in till the New Year. We need to be patient but not panic is my take.

Unfortunately the MSM gives the impression that boosters protect you NOW and that omicron is to be worried about or it could be Armageddon. 1. is totally wrong, they protect us a few weeks from now and in the future, and 2. we don't know. MSM wants Armageddon - it sells.

Most rational organisations look for the evidence first and then base their policy on that.
With our government and their scientific cabal it's the other way around.
The policy has already been decided, which is more restrictions/lockdown.
Now all they need is some evidence to support it. Failing that, they will pump out the scare stories about what could/might/possibly/maybe happen.
As they have done since day one.

So, there's an outbreak of Cholera somewhere and the relevant government decides this, this and that must be done. That's OK? It's evidenced based.

But when our government uses the same protocols and looks at the figures with Covid suddenly the outcome is somehow pre-determined? We gotta have more restrictions and lockdowns.

That's the media take, it is not the government's and most restrictions are not being imposed - not yet.

We have looked at the evidence and we are sill free.

I know we are looking at it different ways. The problem is there is no risk for the government screwing up peoples lives and it is all risk if they miss the growth of a new variant that is even 2% more virulent than they expect.

MSM is mainly to blame as it is their job to hold the government accountable but they just want to make money. Sensation is the way they have chosen and there is no sensation in selling that 5he government is being overly cautious.

This is true.
What worries me is the government advisers like Whitty who are looking at real world evidence and choosing to ignore it, or as always, putting the worst possible complexion on it.
The pressure on Johnson to lock down is relentless, and it isn't based on any rational evidence that I can see.

Javid has just told Trevor Phillips on Sky that he cannot rule out a two-week circuit break after Christmas as he also accuses anti-vaxxers of having a 'damaging impact'. That will need parliament and that will bring out the rebels again.

This comes on the back of the news the Mop-head's Brexit Bruiser, the pasty-faced David Frost, has resigned from cabinet over just the things mentioned above.

In other news Nadine Dorries was kicked off a 100 strong WhatsApp group of MPs for supporting Mop-Head and calling him a "hero". Her removal was unceremonious and immediate.

The split party look rarely bodes well.
