At least if there is any help available from social services they may be able to get her a shower put in? That would be one step forward.
But as MM say, if she won't accept help there isn't a lot anyone can do.

not a penny... she's in a council house on benefits and has been ever since I've known her. She doesn't want the council coming in for the bathroom because she knows the repair team will report her, and I'm sure she's on their radar already because of previous complaints by an upstairs neighbour.

It really is a very sad state of affairs and does make me realise just how grateful I am for my health (both physical and mental) because it so easy could be a case of " there but for the grace of God go I "

First stops, Social services, Mind, Age UK and also search out if there is a local OAP community group.

I am a volunteer with our local OPAL and we do give help. It's not official 'you must do this' it's more light touch, but we can move things on.

As a charity we are more on the radar than an individual and that carries weight.
