Talking of window cleaners, we had one at our old house who was good.
Remember that Tom and I went to that small Green Day gig last Summer? We were standing inside waiting for it to start when someone tapped me on the shoulder and said "I know you, you're from Cannock" and when I turned around it was our old window cleaner  It was a tiny venue and there were people from all over Europe and the US even who'd managed to get tickets and in true Jo style I managed to be stood by someone I knew

I have a window cleaner, he comes round once a month and does the downstairs and the front upstairs (so the bathroom and Jen's bedroom) but he can't get to the two back upstairs ones for the lean-to conservatory, so I do them, hanging out of the window (precariously!!) when absolutely necessary....and I'm not going to admit on here how rarely that is

Thing is - he uses a new regime of what is essentially a brush on the end of a hose pipe, so 'brushes' the windows, the water is distilled and leaves no drops/smears/marks (when he started using it I was sceptical, but it does work), so yes, he does all the conservatory and the fully glazed back door, the living room half bay, the cloakroom, the bathroom, Jen's room, the landing, and the tiny en suite, but not my room or the 'office' windows, and for this I pay him a fiver - it takes him and his firm (he has a van with the name on the side) five minutes tops to do my house.

I have thought about saving that fiver a month and doing it myself but I know I wouldn't do it, so I keep paying him.....

Really? I thought a fiver was a lot since he spends about five minutes on my house  I have *counts* 6 windows plus conservatory and a fully glazed door (which I don't think he was aware of this time, he had taken on a young lad and it was his first time out)

Ten windows (some of the rooms are double aspected) two glazed doors and a set of patio doors, so maybe that's why! He doesn't do the veluxes on the top floor...........

Ours is currently £6 each time he comes for the bay window and 3 windows on the front, plus the glass above the front door and the also three of the windows at the back. He hasn't been doing the kitchen window or the bathroom window that is above it as he hasn't been able to get at it.

I have had a very apologetic email back from him and he is coming back on Friday, weather permitting, to do them all again. He said that he won't be charging me for today or for doing them again.

Fairy snuff. But I will be monitoring him.

We have always had a window cleaner here, outside only, as it's a two storey house, and the cost is £11 a visit - but whilst they wanted to come monthly, we've long insisted they only come every other month, which they do abide to.

There are vertical and horizontal plastic struts across the double-glazed windows, dividing them so they look like either 4 or 6 individual panes, IYSWIM, purely decoration. The window cleaners use one of those extending water brushes so they don't have to climb ladders - and have managed to knock 80% of the struts off ....

I've rescued the fallen struts and keep them in the garden shed - no point putting them back up again as they'll only get knocked off again. We did complain to the window cleaners about their ham-fistedness, but they just shrugged ....

 Ossie that's awful! They are damaging your property :(

Debih I'm glad you've had a positive response - I'm sure he'll take more care next time!

Good of him to come back and do them again Debih - hopefully you'll be pleased and continue. I'd love to get a window cleaner again as my windows are in dire need and to be honest - whilst it seems like a lot I'm not sure I'd do their job for what they get paid; esp when it's wet, cold, horrid outside.

I used to pay my cleaner £8 once a month and that was for 2 largish windows (bedroom and lounge), 1 small window (kitchen) and a large sliding door... so a fair whack compared to some. But money I very gladly spent :)

We have a window cleaner. He only does the windows at the front. Two bay windows, window in the small bedroom, and round the front door. We pay £5.00 when he comes. I seems to depend on the weather and other unknown factors. We don't have the back windows done as it means going over the garage roof with ladders. I do the downstairs windows. Am going to buy an extension tube to do the upstairs ones. Am also thinking of buying one of the Karcher window cleaners. They do get good reviews. One of our friends has one and says it is very good.
