I'm getting withdrawal symptoms already!

And I haven't even packed the books away yet.

I am starting to clear the dining room ready for decorating it. We have two built in cupboards with bookshelves over either side of the chimney breast. Yesterday I packed away all of one side and I am just about to make a start on the other side - my cookery books.

I am going to keep a couple here in the kitchen but oh, which to keep. The rest will be packed away in boxes and delivered to my in laws garage (a lovely surprise for them for when they get back from Hawaii).

I am doing it bit by bit as I keep having to fetch boxes from work so the shelves are the first thing I have tackled. Once they are done I have the mantelpiece, L's art box, the top of the dresser and the pictures. The dining chairs will go in other rooms and the table and dresser will just have to stay where they are and be covered up with plastic whilst I am painting.

I am intending on cleaning the room down with sugar soap this weekend and painting the walls with diluted pva. Then I will sand down and gloss the woodwork in the evenings and once that's done, I can have a bash at emulsioning the walls. I haven't chosen a colour yet - I need Mick to pick up a colour chart for me. But it is going to be rather boring - a cream colour on the main walls and white above the picture rail.

Gosh, you do sound organised. Good luck with that!

We need to do our dining room - it hasn't been touched for simply ages, but we keep putting it off.

I bet it'll be lovely to have a nicely freshened up dining room now the kitchen is sorted! Can we have pictures when you're done? :D

You can - but don't hold your breath as I intend on doing it at a leisurely pace!
