Morning Ally, Cruiser and everyone

Dull and grey.

The plan was, get up early, get the shopping done before the rain.

Got up, to rain  But it's stopped now, so will be heading into Ourique. Hopefully tax he car at the post office and get the prescriptions too.

Have a good day everyone, whatever you're doing xx

Good morning everyone.

Not a cloud, no breeze but mightily cold at -4 °C - feels like -8 °C.

Nothing at all planned for today, but no reaction from the jab on Tuesday.

Stay safe and get the heating on, I have.

Morning all, it’s sunny here but still in the minus figures and very icy on the road and footpaths because we had a bit of a thaw yesterday afternoon which wasn’t ideal with the overnight temperature.

John walked Bill, because I’m a wuss when it comes to ice, so I took the opportunity of hoovering before he and Tom started work. Might see what it’s like later and take Bill this afternoon.

There’s an Amazon delivery coming too, and no doubt other deliveries; one or both of the lads seem to have something arrive every day

John’s got a Zoom meeting with a solicitor, his sister and his mother at 11am about setting something up re his mother’s house and also POA.

Glad you’re okay, Frank!

Have a good day all :)

Morning all, it’s fairly bright but windy and very cold. We have Michael and Kellie today so that will keep us occupied. Some washing to sort out and usual tidying up to be done. Our Taoiseach (prime minister) was on the radio earlier and it looks as if we will have to put up with restrictions until May :( So that has put a dampener on the day. I really do think that there are going to be problems for the older generation as so many active older people are losing their fitness and spending so much time at home doing nothing. We would know a lot in their late ‘70s early ‘80s who live on their own and would dance several times a week, benefitting from the exercise and social contact. That is all gone for them. I’m finding it hard enough, so can only imagine how they are feeling.

Morning all

Another beautiful sunny start to the day, but as with everyone here in the UK.... its cold!!!!! :D Ally; please share some of your warmth :D

Frank, what do you mean "get the heating on" - it's not been off!!!!! One of my neighbours has boiler issues so hasn't got heating at the moment; poor thing. She has one fan heater and I've lent her two oil radiators as well so that should keep the flat warm until the engineer gets to her in the course of today. Just hope whatever it is can be fixed on site otherwise it's not going to be comfortable for her. But then I could ask Karl as they have some industrial heaters at work and he may be able to spare one for her. I'll check in with her a bit later today to see how she got on.

Jo, so glad you're feeling better and back to posting - you've been missed. Hope the zoom call goes as well as can be for John - never an easy topic but needs must ;-) Re the walking on ice; do you have crampons? My one neighbour has them and she swears by them.

Osc, I'd be surprised if our restrictions will be much lifted before May either and as you say it really is causing issues. I'm single but OK because I do go out to see Karl and Nadine (they're my bubble) and I have the garden and allotment to keep me busy; and also obviously work during the day. But for those that have none of that this must be just awful.

Jan, hope you get everything done you want to and Cruiser, enjoy your day pootling about - how is Mrs E feeling / doing?

Saundra - thanks to your post yesterday I now have oxtail doing it's thing in the slow cooker; one of my absolute favourite stews - can't wait for dinner tonight. That is so kind of you re the cash for breakfast; you are right - they are doing an amazing job and I don't think get the recognition they deserve. Saundra, now that you've had your vaccination can you family not come visit you - who do you have a bubble with?

Well a usual usual mix of work and pootling for me.

Stay safe everyone x
