I dont want to watch it, your surgery sounds so supportive of their staff I might just resign and move in with you

Lockdown Highlight of the Week ...

Postby debih » 05 Feb 2021, 20:40

I was really sad when you sad your GP’s keep themselves separate MM.

Ours are fab. We are one big happy team - most of the time. But when we do fall out the receptionists always rule. We like to remind them who really runs the surgery lol.

We went on ‘work to rule’ a few months ago as we felt the clinical staff didn’t value us and were taking us for granted, assuming that we would just pick up the slack that they couldn’t be bothered to do. It didn’t last long - when visits got missed (because we didn’t look back on the consultation as we had expected a visit to be put through) and we kept interrupting them all day to ask them everything rather than using our experience to just know the answer - they soon bought cakes and chocolates in to sweeten us up.

The registrars are always told by the GP’s to look after the reception staff and they’ll look after you. Lol

Deb, I’ll watch your link later.

I actually emailed the practice manager at our surgery yesterday afternoon to thank her and her staff for all they’re doing. The lady who called to book us in, while working after hours, was so lovely and cheerful. Another replied earlier in the week with a reassuring email and one called on Thursday in error, thinking we hadn’t been booked in, and again she was lovely...so I wanted them to know that they’re being appreciated.
We hear so much about the hospital staff but rarely a word about the staff in the GP surgeries who are under pressure to get people booked in for vaccinations to hopefully put an end to this.

I know they’ll appreciate that Jo.

People are quick to dish out complaints but tend to keep compliments to themselves.

The GP staff do seem to have been forgotten in all this.

We are desperately trying to do vaccines but that’s on top of our normal workload.

Yes, the money I’m earning from overtime is great but I took this job as I wanted to work 23 hours a week. At the moment I’m working at least 50 hours per week.

I just think it's been brilliant how it's been done here at first people had to wait outside in the rain but then it changed the entrance round made sure everyone arrived on time
I was less than 10minutes
Such a relief
Hav see to say the surgery had a make over now it's light bright before it was very shabby and worn out hope it stays like this
