So the impeachment trial is going as expected.
The Democrats need 67 votes to Impeach. Yet 45 Republican senators voted to dismiss the claim. Which means that to get the requisite 67 votes, 12 of the Republican senators who just voted to dismiss would need to change their vote to impeach.
Not gonna happen... Those 45 contend that you can't impeach a president who is no longer a president. They won't change their minds.
Meanwhile the 10 republican representatives in the house who voted to impeach Trump are now facing reprisals. One is being removed from a party leadership post and the rest are being set up for a challenge to the seat at the next house elections in 2023.
This whole charade is effectively over right now. The rest will be a sideshow..
