It's snowing!

Postby Workingman » 02 Jan 2021, 11:25

I mean really snowing. Everything has turned white in under half an hour.

I cannot remember the last time I saw snow settling quite like this. It usually happens overnight. I now know which neighbours have good loft insulation and which haven't! :D

Wow, that is quite a bit of snow - lucky you! I'd love a bit here

As for that house - yup; either really really bad insulation or as you say a very 'happy' family :D :D :D

We had a very slight smattering of fluffy flakes yesterday, but nothing today - so far! The sky looks very wintery, and whilst the wind is light it's certainly chilly .....

It’s coming thick and fast here. I was intending on going food shopping when I’d finished at Chesterfield but I ended up leaving my shift half an hour early and coming straight home as it was getting heavy.

Stopped to grab a loaf of bread and just managed to get up the hill before the lane became impassable. The kids are out there now sledging.

Hopefully it won’t last too long as we really need fresh fruit and veg.

It came down from about 12 until 2pm this afternoon and it has caused chaos on the roads around here.
It took our neighbour Kath one hour and twenty minutes to get home from Sainsbury's in Wakefield, less than four miles away. My daughter took one hour to travel five miles. On the road between Wakefield and Normanton the road was closed because cars could not get up Pineapple Hill. A lady has been struck by a car in our village and knocked over a wall.
The snow wasn't expected and has fallen onto the existing ice, catching drivers out big time.

Our weather app told me it was going to snow, then it changed to snow showers, then cloudy and now rain. I got all excited for a minute.....
