I really need a minder

Postby Kaz » 05 Apr 2013, 14:52

as I'm clearly not fit to be out on my own! I decided to walk into town this lunchtime to get some milk ( big 4-pinter I had in had 'turned') and to draw out some English spending money for Becks, for the airport on the way out and back.............got to the bank in town to discover my debit card for the big joint account was missing  Nearly reported it straight away as lost but then remembered the last time I'd used it was in Sainsbury's yesterday.......................the Sainsbury's near here, so the other side of town to where I was :?

There is another big Sainsbury's however, at the Quays, about ten minutes walk from the bank so I walked up there to ask their Customer Services to ring the Barnwood branch to see if it was handed in. Thankfully it had been handed straight into their Customer Services by the checkout lady!!!! Talk about relief  Mick only got paid a few days ago and there is a fair bit of money in that account :? So then I had to get right across town, to the other Sainsbury's to collect my card, by some milk and finally walk home! I've been out hours longer than I intended and am kream krackered now!!!!

Didn't you say earlier you'd be needing a very long walk to burn off the Easter calories? Wish granted! ;)

So glad you got your card though! It's a horrible feeling isn't it when you discover it missing. That happened to me last Summer. I was in the Bullring on a Sunday afternoon about to pay for some clothes when I found my debit card wasn't there. I used my credit card instead and immediately phoned the bank to report my card missing. I'd been shopping the previous day and had visions of it left in a chip and pin machine somewhere and someone taking it. Then it hit me that the last place I'd used it had been Barclays, at the counter. The cashpoint hadn't been working so I'd gone to the teller to withdraw some money, after giving me the money she was trying to sell their mortgages and didn't hand me my card back, I just wanted to get away from her sales pitch so didn't give it another thought  You'd have thought they'd have called me to say they had my card though, I wouldn't have needed to cancel it that way. We were going to Cornwall a few days later so I wanted my card and thankfully they had a replacement one delivered to me by the Wednesday.

Good somebody handed it in and that you knew where you'd last used it too. Then there's that awful moment when you check the balance in case somebody had actually managed to use it

Walked off most of it hopefully

Fugi  Yes, nightmare - and I as very lucky the checkout lady spotted it straight away!

Yes it is a horrid feeling, the pit of my stomach hit the floor  Jo I'm glad it isn't just me - we can go and sit on the 'easily confused' corner together :P  xx

Wish I could Saundra - we have to wave Becks off early afternoon, and then we have a 50th party invite for the evening, but not made up my mind about that one yet. I would be safer in bed though
