Happy anniversary Kaz and Mick!! xx And many more of them x :D :D

So today we decided to go down to the coast for our walk, the weather was perfect, a bit grey but not cold, and dry.....Nose's Point is a gorgeous coastal walk, right by the sea, and the coastline is spectacular all along the stretch. At the end before you turn back, there is the cage where the miners got into to go down't'pit at Easington. Tom actually was in this cage/shaft many many times, as he worked 7 miles out under the North Sea - it's a terrifying thought, it's quite small and housed 30 men on three levels packed in like sardines, in the dark, for the 1300 foot drop :o *shudder*

Of course, he thought it would be a nice change to go along a different track en route back....and the field wasn't a walking path at all, just a tractor-churned up field and super muddy! We headed in completely the wrong direction and if I hadn't had my maps app on my phone we'd have still been there!! So ended up doing nearly 9 miles, 2 or 3 of which were completely unnecessary owing to the huge circle we ended up walking in to get back to the right route!! Grrrrr!!! As a result, I am VERY achey....have had a hot bath and hopefully will ease up soon.

Got back to a driving fine for Tom!!! He's gone into a 'bus gate' road in Durham, newly started since we came out of the first lockdown.....it was signposted so I have no idea how he's missed it! We even had a conversation about it when it was first brought out, which he can remember having but obv not enough to remember to not use that road! It's ridiculous really as there is a major road into the city closed anyway for bridge repairs so you can't go that way either - quite why they've allocated this bus gate road as well, I have no idea!! So he's grumpy about that, as well as with me for moaning that I am tired and in pain..... :(

Gal, I don't know how they stood it! Generations of my dad's family were miners, as you might remember, starting in N Ireland in the early 1800's, then Scotland, then in the NE near you until the 1930's when my great grandad decided to come south, after the Jarrow march. I can't think of anything worse than working underground :?

Hope your aches and pains ease off soon xx
