What are we reading in April

Might as well start this, seeing as I've been convinced it was the 1st today anyway

Long Time Coming by Edie Claire, a Kindle free book. I'm only on the first page so far so I'll see how it goes, it does have very good reviews though.

This afternoon I've finished Letters From My Sister by Alice Peterson. I thought it was going to be a bit too chick lit-ty at first - successful beautiful woman living in London with a rich goodlooking boyfriend - but it turned out to be a really good story and I couldn't put it down, I was even holding my Kindle whilst cooking dinner today.

I'm reading Wives and Sweethearts by Lilian Harry and really enjoying it.

It's the first I've read of hers and looking in the inside cover there are plenty more..so that's more book hunting to add to my pile.

Then it'll be the final in Paul O'Grady's trilogy Still Standing which Jackie left here for me.

I'm reading Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. It's okay but not blowing me away. I like the idea behind the story but I'm finding the style of writing rather annoying. I will stick with it a bit longer though to see if I get into it.

I am listening to Clare Balding - My Animals and Other Family - on my ipod and absolutely loving it. It helps that I am horsey but I think it would be a good read for anyone really as although it mainly focuses on horses and dogs it does cover her school life as well. It's really interesting - in fact I am off to google her family in a minute as they sound fascinating.

Stick with it Debih! It will hit you halfway through and then you'll need to know and keep reading. I usually avoid modern American writers so had to get used to the writing style. Sometimes a book can be overhyped and we expect too much. Also, some books need to be read in long sessions but you have a busy life style so probably have to read in short snaps. 'Gone Girl' does benefit from reading in big chunks!

I am pleased you stuck with it and reached that turning point. I was the same as you when I started reading 'One Day' and was about to give up, went back to it then I couldn't put it down.

'Gone Girl' is Gillian Flynn's blockbuster of a book but if you like her unusual writing style enough then try her previous book called 'Sharp Objects'. It'll grab you in a similar way. I may have mentioned before that she's sold the film rights for all of her novels.

I am reading The Girl with No Shadow by Joanne Harris. It's the sequel to Chocolat.
Not sure how I feel about it at this point, but it's still early in the book, so we'll see.

I'm not reading anything at the moment. I have adoption papers to read this weekend and books to collect from the library on Monday.

The Peacock Emporium, by Jojo Moyes, picked it up a while ago in a charity shop, it's one of hers I'd missed.
After 'Dominion' definitely needed something lighter and am really enjoying this

Well I am re - reading an oldish book from 1990. Listening for a midnight tram by John Junior, his memoirs. He used to be the editor of the Daily Express. A really good book.
