Journalism just isn't that good any more

As the situation in Kingspark in Dundee reveals.

After seeing the news about Kingspark I reached out to my sister in law. My BIL/SIL are Dundonians and teachers. Although they don't teach in Dundee now, they did for most of their career.

So when I mentioned it, I found out that Kingspark is a school for children with disabilities and Much more hands on than normal. Depending on the disability it could mean that the children are much more vulnerable than normal children.

Scour the press, look for the context. None.

Frustrating.

All of the teachers, children, families of the teachers and children and their key contacts are now all having to isolate for 14 days. Pretty big impact for Dundee.

My BIL/SIL and our Niece were over here in France for the last 2 weeks, they left on Friday and are already having to self isolate at home for 14 days. The odd thing is they are probably safer than my SIL going back to work in the schools.

Not sure about this. All the reports I read mentioned the number of pupils (185) aged five to 18 and that they all had additional support needs, often one-on-one. They all mentioned how the outbreak spread and the steps being taken to try to control it with comments from public health medicine within NHS Tayside and from Dundee City Council's dept' for children and families services.

What I picked up from the reports of Kingspark, as well as those from other well published clusters, was the need for fully functioning and well operated local test and trace procedures, which appears to be happening, and also that Covid-19 whilst extremely contagious is not the Black Death, Ebola and Marburg rolled into one. Yes, it is fatal to many and needs to be controlled, but it is not going to wipe out humanity.

Initially it wasn't reported about the disabilities. In fact one picture was of a different school with normal children.

My BIL taught 20 years in a specialist unit for disabled children so he knows the school well.

The main infection point for this school was the fact that the children and teachers could not distance. A point not stressed.
