It's one of my 4 in 7 diet days, so just a bowl of cabbage soup and a round of Spam sandwiches ... :D

Crommers, I was watching Jamie Oliver on TV last night and he made what he called a british bolognaise, and darn fine it looked too.... he used a bottle of pale ale instead of red wine. I'm definitely going to try it myself

I saw that. He used pale ale instead of red wine and I thought: who uses red wine in spagbol? That lead on to: who uses red wine for anything other than screen wash, de-icing paths or as a weed killer?   What's wrong with beef stock? :?

I always use a dash of red wine in my bolognese sauce.... I rinse the tins of tomato with it and then add it to the sauce. I actually don't cook with wine etc all that much (rather drink it     ) but another favourite recipe of mine is Chicken Madeira https://www.jocooks.com/recipes/chicken-madeira/ so delicious!

That sauce is not a million miles from the one in my chicken and mushroom slices on the food board except that the Madeira was replaced with full milk and there was more flour as a thickener.
