OK, here comes the logic, again.

'That's the point' was wrong but so close.

There are two of That = Thats (plural) or, by extension, That's as in a contraction of That is.

The dot in the middle is a 'point' as those of us of a certain age will remember from learning decimals. Four point two was once written as 4•2 not 4.2 as is the modern way.

This is what led me to 'Thats the point', which was wrong - as usual. So, I now have two Thats next to a point, but I have never heard of a phrase 'That's next to the point' but I have heard of - bada boom....
