Not happy bunnies here!! UPDATED

Postby Kaz » 28 Mar 2013, 15:02

Got back from a trip to town to collect Becky's travel money to a letter from the college - apparently there is unrest and fighting out in Borneo on the eastern side of the island. This is where most of the exciting excursions were going to take place - the jungle trip, turtle island, the orangs - all of that has been cancelled as the Foreign Office are advising tourists not to go :( :(

As things stand the trip out there is going ahead and the college are trying to arrange alternative excursions on safer parts of the island, but as far as Becks is concerned the best bits are now all off. She isn't the kind of girl to just want to sit by a pool in a beach resort - she wanted to see the animals and the jungle

She is incredibly disappointed and I am gutted for her  Not to mention the fact of how expensive this has been...............if they don't manage to find some great alternative animal based excursions this is going to turn into one giant expensive damp squib..........

Oh dear, so sorry to read that, Kaz. Hopefully they'll be able to come up with some exciting alternatives ....

Oh no :o Poor Becky, I can totally understand that she is not happy, and poor Mum too because it's all such a huge outlay of money. Hopefully they will be able to sort out alternative excursions.

Thank you both xx

I will not be happy if it turns into just a beach resort holiday........it has been very very expensive (well over £2k) I was happy to pay that out for her to get the animal experiences she wanted, but............... :?

It would almost be better if they cancelled, as then I would get my money back   I don't feel too mean saying that as B herself has said pretty much the same - she just hates lazing round a pool all day, not her style at all!

That is a crying shame for Becky and all the other students Kaz, but safety has to come first. Here's hoping that they do find another interesting and worthwhile excursion for them all. Borneo is a pretty big island and can't just be interesting in one area. Fingers crossed.

Oh of course it does Frank! No way would I have wanted college to go against safety advice! Hope you're right and they find some other things to make the trip worthwhile........... :?

Oh no what a dreadful shame Kaz :(
I'd be saying the same as you, that it would be better cancelled than turned into just a holiday, after all you wouldn't choose to go to Borneo for a holiday would you :(
