Kindle books

In a further effort to keep abreast with modern technology, I have just bought a Kindle.

My preference, chiefly, is the classics of literature, and I thought I read on Vocal Voices
some time ago that it was possible to get free downloads of such books.

I would be pleased to receive recomendations of any suitable websites.

Kindles are wonderful Aggers
If you go to Amazon.co.uk, then 'kindle books', on the left you will see 'bestsellers'. Go to that and it will show you the top 100, both paid for and free, in separate lists.
You can also of course search for individual titles.

On the Library board there is a 'good buy' sticky at the top, which is where we put things like the kindle daily deal on amazon, or a free book we've noticed; there are a lot that only cost 20p

Having read through the instructions file, I am simply amazed at what the Kindle can do, as well as dealing with books.

This will certainly keep my brain active, although some of my other actinities might suffer in the process.

I don't know how I would manage these things without the help of my good friends here on Vocal Voices.

I love my Kinde too Aggers I was convinced they weren't for me, until my eldest bought me one as a gift and I just LOVE it The free or very cheap books are fantastic, plus you can carry a whole library around with you on one small portable gadget

I don't use my Kindle very much - I am a real skinflint when it comes to buying books and get most of mine from the library. And although our library do do ebooks (which I have worked out how to get onto my Kindle) they aren't the latest bestsellers.

So I still tend to read mainly normal books, although I do use my Kindle alot when we go away.

Mick's Kindle Fire however gets used loads but mainly for everything but reading books. We use it for games, listening to the radio, watching iplayer/itv player and other computer like things. I don't like it much for surfing the internet but for everything else it is great.

I use my Kindle a lot and some of the books for sale are amazingly cheap.

A book chosen for my book club recently cost the paperback readers £6.99 and when I tried to download it my Kindle told me I had already downloaded it. I checked back and I had only paid 20p for it.

Of all the books chosen by my book club, only one has cost me more than buying the actual book.

The only downside is that the battery lasts such a long time that I completely forgot to check it the other week when we were driving to France and it was as flat as a pancake. Luckily I had a paperback with me.

For almost all of my kindle books I have the physical book too.
