You have given me plenty to thing about and clarified some of the things that were troubling me.

My problem is that I have so many things to do that I can't find time to delve into all the intricacies of the computer.

I do wish they would make computers easier to understand.

If you have IE9 ten Ctrl-Shift-I brings up the bookmarks bar.

Computers are lots of small tings put together. They are only difficult to understand from the position of not understanding any of the small things. However the knowledge is cumulative. So understanding one small thing fully leads to a greater understanding of the next thing.

It's like any journey, small steps constantly make long journeys possible.

It certainly is a long, drawn-out learning curve as far as I'm concerned.

Being a gluten for punishment, I've now just bought a Kindle, and trying to master that.
I've managed to sort some of it out, and I'm hoping someone here will advise me where I can download free classical books.

Hi Aggers,

I won't be able to help you with the kindle. Well not in the way you expect. I have a kindle too but I don't use it the way others do. I use calibre to manage the books but I treat the Kindle like a camera memory card or a usb stick when it comes to books. It's one of those little pieces of information things. Learning to manage a file system with a file system explorer (windows explorer), or even a dos box (hardcore maochists), is a skill which is viable in the entire computer space, from music players, TV boxes, Kindles, right up to massive computers.

I have thousands of books, some classical, but the content is not always good quality. Needless to say they were file share downloaded. Mainly for reason of not wishing to scan our extensive library of physical books (heading up towards 2,00 books of which 1,000 are hardbacks).

I have no idea how to get classicle books for the kindle otherwise, it was bought to replace my existing reader which did not integrate into anyone's store so it was always the hard way for me.

I find it easier to treat technology in familes. For instance my PC's and Laptops are windows family. My phone, kindle and media streamers are Linux (unix) family of which Android is just one offshoot of the family. Under the pretty interface they are, basically, all the same....
