This is not about Brexit.

Fartrage and about eight of his Breximonkeys have made claims that jobs and peerages were offered by the Tories to BP candidates if they would stand down at the election.

These claims have been raised with the Met Police and CPS and are said to be being taken seriously and assessed. The MPs' own Special Enquiry Team is also involved.

These are serious accusations, but should we be shocked? Probably not. Such shenanigans have been going on since democracy was born and are almost traditional - David Lloyd George anyone - not that that makes them acceptable.

The odd thing is that simply making the accusations could already have influenced the election intentions of some voters much more so that any WhatsaTwitFace ads or Russian bots ever could.

Nothing would surprise me about MPs and the Parties they represent. What many of them are prepared to do to score a point or gain an advantage makes them unfit to represent the voters of this country in any way. I would say that it is shocking behaviour, but sadly I am no longer shocked by anything any of them do. I have no doubt it will get more unpleasant until we are required to vote.

That seems to be the way of things these days. Dish the dirt, focus on the negatives, attack, attack, attack, but avoid any positives at all costs. They all do it relentlessly.

Well Labour did, very positively, try to buy the election with lavish promises of boatloads of cash.

Sadly for Labour it appears to have backfired. Now they are going to change tack and court Leave voters who normally vote Labour rather than trying to court Lib Dem voters.

The old messages are so often forgotten. If you neglect your home whilst looking at greener pastures, expect to keep looking over the fence whilst someone takes over your home...

Do I believe the offers were made? Absolutely.
Do I believe it was core party policy? Not sold.
