Another sex scandal.

Postby Workingman » 05 Feb 2019, 09:16

This time it is in Halifax. Thirty-three men aged between 30 and 40 have been arrested over (alleged) sexual abuse 15 years ago.

It is tucked away as local news. Is that because these crimes are now appearing with such regularity that they are not worthy of being on the national front pages? Or could it be down to the cultural heritage of the alleged perpetrators? There must be some agenda when 'news' that Instagram's most liked photo ever is that of an egg and it is in the top three stories.

Meanwhile West Yorkshire police are are warning so-called "paedophile hunters" not to confront suspected child abusers. Five arrests have been made and there are concerns about the rise of online child abuse activist groups and their activities.

Vigilantism is rarely right, but it is easy to understand why some people in some areas can be persuaded to resort to it.

Peter Hitchens predicted this; that they would just stop reporting these crimes. And it's happening.

It is disgusting, both the crime and the deliberate suppression of news on the crime.

But when the police are controlled by politicians, what can you expect?

I see that the police warnings about vigilante paedophile hunters are on the front pages. This, to me, indicates that the authorities are scared of a backlash at their lacklustre performance with these types of cases. The way they operated left many vulnerable girls and women without anywhere to turn.

The police are more concerned with protecting paedophile hunters, to be honest. Some recent "encounters" have turned violent, and I guess it's only a matter of time before one of them gets seriously assaulted.

Possibly, Ossie, but after Dewsbury, Hudersfield and now Halifax the feeling up here is one of the authorities being scared that the lid might blow off should a sex criminal or an activist suffer the ultimate.

We all tend to bump along quite happily for most of the time, but when something like 33 men get arrested hackles do get raised and there are plenty of hot heads out there to kick off.

Look North led on the pedo hunters story, but did not mention the latest round of arrests.
