It is :D They want to downsize, they had a baby (in fact she was born two years ago today) and S wants to give up work to be at home with her but the current mortgage won't allow for that.

What about converting the room above the garage to a self contained flat? Or taking in a student into the cinema room? That's too nice to sell.

Your Mils new house does look good, but I'm not sure I would like to share a drive with that many. If she's the first in the drive it would be so bad. It does look quite steep too? But I like the interior a lot.

I can understand that - I was lucky enough to be able to stay home, mostly, until my three started Infants :) Shame they have to sell to achieve that, but you never get those early years back............. 8-)

I know, they put it on the market just after their daughter was born hoping for a quick-ish sale...she's 2 now so before long will be in school. I know they have a scarily big interest only mortgage so need to get a decent price for it.

Weka, the husband is one of the most anti-social buggers that I know so a lodger wouldn't last two minutes  The reason the sale fell through was because the unconverted but would cost too much to convert, their buyer looked into it and it just wasn't doable.

The house right opposite us has gone on the market this week, I so want to be nosy but they're not using an estate agent. I stayed on that side of the road this morning hoping there'd be a web address on the sign but there's only a mobile number

They both look nice Shell, but I can't work out why your friends won't sell.
