I don't think that people can really be blamed for this one, it is mid March after all. The weather forecasts over the weekend were not exactly detailed, meaning that many people would have already been at work when the snow started. Even then (Monday) the Met warnings were for snow "in parts of", and it's not their fault that they didn't know which mile of which road was affected. Even local radio is only up-to-date after an event, it is not 'real-time', and sometimes a small incident can cause much bigger problems in just a few minutes.

I am just glad that everyone appears to be OK.

I have a Facebook friend in Kent whose husband was stuck in his car overnight. A very kind person bought him a flask and some biscuits, he finally got home at breakfast time

Our PM took 6 hours to get into work today. Apparently the A12 was a basket case with trucks off the road all over.

I've seen one gritter in a month here. Back in January with all the snow we saw some traces of gritters but no actual gritters themselves in over 200 miles of driving.

It's no wonder that roads close. Drivers expect and are prepared for roads which are gritted and either dry or wet, not for snow and ice. So they drive like idiots with no experience and no intention of trying to learn. Also they never buy winter tyres so they suffer even more.

I'm just glad they are not on my roads at the moment. I have no issue in driving on snow or Ice but I can't get around thousands of cars who do have issues.

My friend told me Stockholm was -15 over the weekend. He was lamenting "Winter is back".....
