Yes, yes and yes.
Spent ages skipping as a kid, and hula hooping. Then the French skipping in school, yes, I was the best at the school. The others gave up before beating me. Me and my friend got to the point where we could complete 3/4 of it without making mistake. Then in the end we had to start making up our own complicated routines as we had done them all. We got bored if I shortly after that.

In intermediate we did the double rope skipping. I got up to wing able to skip a single solo rope normally, while inside the double rope, so meaning I was jumping 3 ropes, but again, we got bored. Double ropes was unheard of, so we had no one able to teach us any rhymes or tricks. We taught ourselves everything by trial and error.

Now I am confused....that two way skipping rope thing was what we called French skipping, it was hard because you had to dodge the 'top' rope to jump in, and then it was double time jumping/skipping - tough, but we never seemed to get out of breath!

The elastic thing where you stood with feet apart opposite a second person, therefore making a rectangle with the elastics we called - er - elastics The person taking their go had to do a form of Irish jig lifting the elastics and wrapping them around each other with this or that foot.....very intricate
