I wasn't singing when skipping this morning Debih..I was too shocked at how hard it was!!

Laugh out loud at the memories of skipping to When Susie, and remembering after Susie lost her bra she married the boyfriend and the next verse we had to make sex noises and do the actions..none of us had a clue what THAT was about!

Anyone remember this one....

Miss Lucy had a baby
She named it tiny Tim
She put it in the bath tub
To see if it could swim

I can still remember all the words. :o

   I obviously had a sheltered childhood :P

No Ally I haven't seen girls skipping for many years - such a shame  Schools these days have such daft rules about what games can be played :(

Does anyone remember French Skipping? It was a series of complicated steps, done over rows of elastic bands joined together :D

I don't remember such rude words

Yes Kaz we did both, ordinary and French skipping. Not elastic bands though, long bits of normal elastic tied into a ring. It was fiendishly fast and complicated wasn't it! I remember that being banned years ago, goodness knows why :?
Skipping seems to go in crazes, you do sometimes see a playground with lots of girls doing it, others none at all.

Ally I bought a skipping rope, I could only manage about two minutes, I couldn't believe how hard it was  :D
I should have another go...it's good for your bones ;)

Oh yes Kaz..Michele and I devised a system in our bedroom that involved attaching the elastic bands to our two chest of drawers and the first time we played it we played for HOURS!

Mum comes back from work...knock knock on the door...old frosty knickers from the apartment downstairs came to complain about the incessant thudding all afternoon!

Funnily enough it wasn't long after mum and dad had saved enough to buy a house!

I remember French skipping - we played it for hours. My mum worked at a knicker factory so we had a plentiful supply of elastic!!

This fine weather girls
When its your birthday please run out
January, February, etc....

Granny was in the kitchen
Doing a bit of stitchen
When in came the bogey man
And pushed granny out......

Although the skipping was fast and furious this morning for a really good speedy workout I will definitely do it again.

The skipping rope is now in my 'keep fit' bucket outside along with my weights.

Thank goodness no one can see me doing lunges, squats and skipping in the garden..what a sight for sore eyes I must be!

Alka Seltzer
Speedy Alka Seltzer
Alka Seltzer
Take the pain away

We'd all loop in and out at different times....such good fun. :D :D

He swallowed half the water

Miss Lucy got excited
So she grabbed him by the throat

My nickname was Lulu at school so:

Lulu had a baby
She called him Sonny Jim
She put him in the bath tub
To teach him how to swim

He swam down to the bottom
And then he gasped for air
So Lulu got excited
And grabbed him by the.....

Haircut, shampoo, ring the barber's bell
And if he doesn't like it
Then he can go to hell

So on the strength of that I left school and became a Hairdresser
