If you like chocolate...

Postby Diflower » 08 Mar 2013, 15:39

You'd love the smell in my house :D
I've just taken out of the breadmaker a chocolate brioche loaf - my goodness for the past half hour or so you wouldn't believe the amazingly chocolatey smell :D

I wanted to do it with chunks of chocolate, but couldn't work out when to add them, so in the end just chucked in all the pieces when you can add raisins etc. So it's all melted in and it's chocolate-coloured :) Don't know if any of it will have stayed in pieces, it's a bit too hot to try and cut yet - but smelling it's good enough :D

Mmm! I love chocolate croissants so know the brioche will be gorgeous. I don't do baking any more but are the chocolate chips used in cookies sort of more waxy with less cocoa so don't melt in the oven? Hope there's some lovely chocolate bits in there.

It's lovely! Have only sneaked the (thin) crust, Bb popped home before going to collect youngest so we tried it. Mmmm, as good as it smelled :)

Yes Fugi they're like hard pellets aren't they - but I didn't have those, only real chocolate. I could have just made the dough in the breadmaker and then added the chocolate but then you have to faff about and use the oven etc.
I think at some point I could probably have mixed it in anyway, but will try that another time.

For now, if it's my invention it's a good one :D
I thought of doing it because eldest is coming tomorrow and loves those little pains au chocolat ;)
There is a recipe for a chocolate loaf in my little bread book, but it uses cocoa powder, which wouldn't be the same at all.
