Asda sell them ready made....

Urad flour is made from urad lentils, but ordinary lentils would do.

My Bosch whizzer stick has a bean grinder and also a flour mill attachment, but it all looks like too much hard work.

The Asian supermarket does a whole range of flavoured pappads from plain to red hot chilli and garlic. I feel a drive out coming on.

It does look like hard work but I'd give it a try if I was having a curry night with a load of friends.

Not worth it for just the two of us.

Now why didn't I think of Asda? Oh that'll be cos it'd be a round journey of 6 hours to buy them!

You can buy them uncooked, which makes them much cheaper and not so much palaver.

Damn this thread drifting....

All I wanted was some papads, which I now have - Punjabi masala, black pepper and red hot chili and garlic. They are the uncooked ones, Di, 12 to 15 in a pack for £1.19 ea, but then I had to buy other things.

Put it this way, having got my papads and dry spices and Chinese sauces - oyster, hoisin, black bean and dark soy - plus a few other essentials I am now £23 lighter in the pocket.
