I love them too.

I hate down escalators with see through sides, I am ok with the others. Although in London the other week, the escalator up from the Central line is so high, I did say 'not sure I can do that' but Joan turned round and talked to me, I can't turn round on them, no way

No, me neither :?

I'm not keen on the stairs in old buildings either, I stayed in a hotel in Earl's Court a few years ago and it had one of those staircases which wound around and around and where you could see right down to the bottom floor. I was on the top floor, 4 or 5 floors up, and I started getting very panicky as I got nearer the top and ended up on my hands and knees as my legs were getting too wobbly  :?

Sensible shoes are an absolute must in high places. They allow you to plant your feet firmly and thus reduce the fear of falling off.

Doc Martins air soles are best. Should you fall they allow you to bounce when you land.... but only if you land feet first. :o

I can manage escalators fine, up AND down, no problem - what I don't like are lifts, especially down ones  I use them but I am happy when I 'land', and if it's a tall building and it takes a long time for the lift to get to the bottom, I'd rather take the stairs!

Can go up no bother though :D

LOL Frank....you do have a good point about the Air Soles though (had to be careful there with my iPad and it's Autocorrect :P )

Gal, you wouldn't have liked to have been me the last time I was in the Empire State Building then - I was alone in the lift from the 80th floor to the bottom

Oh my thing with lifts is to step in carefully - ever since I read about a poor lady who stepped into one when the doors slid open, without looking - and plummeted many floors to her death as there was no lift cublicle there  :( :( :(

Jo I do empathise, that might well have been me :? xxxx  @ Air Soles and auto-correct :P
