Di I think I read they do this Taste Test on the Australian Masterchef but never seen it. For anybody who thinks they are good enough cooks to enter the Masterchef kitchen they should be able to identify the salt/sour/bitter/sweet tastes from the ingredients in front of them as some of them will be the right ones. It would be much harder if they just got to taste the dish and weren't given a choice.

Yes it would - there may well be the odd rogue/unexpected little bit of something but they should have a pretty good idea.

Still sure they have done it, I seem to remember Torode standing there...oh I think maybe they tasted then just had to say what they thought was in it.

I love MasterChef, but do prefer Masterchef Professional one to the 'normal' one :)

I started watching MC New Zealand, but not sure I'm liking that format - they work in large teams vs individual cooking. And they've got three judges and it seemed to me that not all judges taste all the food, they took turns - so how can you make a decision? hmmm

but now that the UK one is starting again I'm happy :0

I'll wait and see what else is on, I may well record them all and watch in the afternoons.
