I always wire heels when I worked. Nothing silly height, (well occasionally when in was heading out straight after work) nothing overly low either, but just a nice height. One thing I have always made sure of though was that my feet were never squashed and so far so good, they have no problems.
Little miss can only seem to wear handle down shoes. She has a very wide foot, which means I normally look for shoes in the boys section as they are slightly wider, but the hand me downs are best, as they come pre stretched. When she was was first walking I bought her shoes, not realising the we squashing her feet. One day I looked closer and two of her middle toes (the slightly webbed ones) were crossing over each other on each foot. So she became barefoot annie while that straightened. Lucky it was summer.
As for the original question, yes, I can and have carried a baby in heels, even a newborn and 16 month old together, with heels and nappy bag on back. though now that I don't wear heels anywhere as often now, I'm not sure I would feel comfortable doing it again.
