I haven't 'checked in' on mine like that since they were little............and if you shout goodnight to youngsters as you go to bed yourself surely you're only going to wake them up?

LOL Kaz, no, when she was younger I popped my head round the door (she was often still awake!) when I went up - I call goodnight to her now, but then so does she me, and we usually go to bed around the same time anyway.

I have watched most of the first episode (I had to go out before it had finished so am intending on watching the last 20 minutes in the morning before work). I enjoyed it but, like everyone else was asking questions.

Paper round at 11??? School not ringing to find out where he was??? S and L are 10 and 12 and I always stick my head round their doors on my way to bed, no matter what the time. And if one of them had a paper round I would be up bright and early to get them something to eat before they left - I wouldn't expect them to just get themselves up and sorted out, go for their paper round and then go to school without seeing me!!!

But it was very good and I am looking forward to seeing the end of this episode and the to the next ones. I left S watching it when I went out - she was completely absorbed! She has just started to watch "adult" dramas and loves them.

Oh so true...sometimes as Don and I are going to bed J and C are just going out! Correction. At the weekend it's lots of times!

But then tonight...Don and I were out watching the footy, came home to have a cheeky drink whilst waiting for the pizzas to cook...J and C came into the kitchen to bid us goodnight as they were off to bed!

If this is following The Killing in theme then all sorts will happen during the next few weeks. The body language between the parents of the dead boy isn't good. Not once did the mother allow the father to comfort her and she kept her distance-odd!

Is he the father? Did she have an affair? The sister looks like she knows a lot! Is Pauline Quirk the invisible lonely fag-hag van living woman that nobody notices but she knows a lot too? (Yes Ostrich-it does look like Freshwater more than the old Haven at The Bay)

The unwashed newsagent shop owner looks creepy but are they leading us up the wrong path? Hoping we'll think he's a child molester?

Whenever they make films about 'rural' areas they love putting lots of incestual relationships in them.

Will the young cub reporter from The City solve it all?

Which female will Tennant have an affair with? The hotel receptionist? The hard faced female reporter? The local female police officer?

I read an interview with Pauline Quirk about it the other day. She said that they only got the scripts for each episode one by one so the actors were all pretty much in the dark about what happened too.

She said that everyone has their own secret and more is revealed about what each character is hiding each week. The character that she plays is very unpleasant. She also said that she was shocked at the climax.

And the dog that she always has with her (apparently it is in every scene with her) is her own dog! There you go - pointless fact of the day.

Oh yes Debih -she was in the local paper with her dog but didn't realise it was her own pet. Love these slow burners but wish it was on more than once a week. The European things like Spiral, The Killing etc always do a two hour slot made up of two episodes weekly on the same night but then they make longer series than we do -up to twenty episodes and more.

I see 'Prisoners Wives' is back on soon. Now that was great last year so hoping they can keep it up.

For me one of the most interesting things about Spiral, Borgen etc. being shown as two-parters was being able to see how the episodes developed and flowed straight away.

I get quite irritated with all this "Next week", "Last week" stuff. I don't want to know, and I am not a goldfish... I can remember what I saw.

From memory WM, I don't think they did a 'next week' on Broadchurch - which I was delighted about

It's a rarity these days however
