Burning waste....

Postby meriad » 27 Feb 2013, 20:27

I've just gone onto my local council website to see what the regulations are about burning large amounts of wood in back gardens. Two of my neighbours (one I gather is a carpenter by trade - not sure what the other one does) quite often have these huge bon fires in their back gardens burning wood left over from jobs and whilst I like a nice comfy fire, the fires they create are huge and it just stinks! You can smell it way before you come home and it's horrid when you want to have the back door open.

There was nothing on the council website, but I did find something on the Gov.uk website saying that one needs to complain to the council - but if it's not even on the council website; do they have a duty to care?

Has anyone ever come across something like this?

If you live in a smokeless zone you certainly have grounds for complaint Meriad. Your local Environmental Health Dept should be able to advise.
