We're back.
The vet doesn't know if it's the Imuran, she doesn't think it would be so severe. Since I posted earlier it had got worse again.
We've got some kaolin paste in a syringe which I've very clumsily shoved all round her mouth. Plus antibiotics to start in the morning, and no Imuran at least for tonight.
She's taken blood again but it was too late for tonight, someone will ring me tomorrow with the preliminary results and any changes. The rest will go off to the outside lab again.

She's pleased Minnie's less bony but still not as good as she'd like. The doughiness in her stomach is better, and her legs aren't puffy. But. She would have expected more improvement overall by now, and is also concerned her breathing seems laboured. That comes and goes, but maybe appears with exertion, I'm not sure because she's doing so little anyway.
She wants her in next week for x-rays of abdomen and chest areas; she'd mentioned before there might be a mass in there, I think she's hoping she's wrong as well. It couldn't be done before with the puffiness etc, plus she wasn't really well enough, but we'll phone tomorrow and arrange it.
Oh and we're to keep Monday's appointment as well.

Gosh a bit of a mixed bag there. Fingers crossed the Kaolin will do the trick and Millie's tummy settles. I wonder if she's reacting to the richer food she's been getting? And of course fingers and toes crossed as well for the vet visits next week and that they have a positive outcome.

How are YOU holding up?

Thanks MM.

Meriad because she'd been having wetter poos I'd stopped first the chicken livers, then the eggs (only tried it all one thing at a time anyway), and wasn't sure about the heart. So for the past few days she's just been on the dry food (which is hypoallergenic) and plain white fish and rice, none of which should be any problem. I even stopped the spirulina just in case, but it got worse and worse :(
She's been outside doing more tonight...I gave her a meal soon after we got in, since the vet said to keep feeding her, but we're not giving her any more. It's really hard, as she's desperate thanks to the steroids, but tbh whatever the vet said, I cannot face that all over the carpets. It's not the carpet, that's beyond help now anyway, it's the mess, the stink, the trying to clear it up...
As for me - it's not nice. She's our lovely girl, a beautiful dog, and still very much herself; if she's going to get better then I can put up with all this, it's not as if she's been doing it every day. We will have to wait and see, but if a very tough decision has to be made then I will make it. I hope that doesn't make me sound hard, I'm not, it would be for her.

Our friend who has her to stay if we're away, who when I was ill thought she could have her and we could get another puppy when I was better (yeah right!), who has friends who also wanted her, including two vets, and invite her to their barbeques...she has been away, she went 2 days after Minnie first went to the vet. I didn't phone her before she left as she'd have been upset and worrying, but she's back and I still haven't phoned her, I just can't bear to tell her.

It doesn't make you sound hard at all Di. Sadly it is a decision we have to make sometimes. It is a decision made with love for our little animal family members. I hope you don't have to make this choice, but if you do it will be done because it is the best thing for Minnie x

Thanks Loz, I hope not too. I very much hope that this time next week it will all be looking very different. Just at the moment it's hitting a bit hard.
