Flood!

Someone's in for a shock!

The next street along is a mix of detached houses and bungalows. Last year one of the bungalows was sold and knocked down to be replaced by a big four bed house. The house was finished in the autumn but nobody has moved in as yet.

Tonight there is a a gang of workers there with pumps pumping out water into the street drains. Apparently the water main in the house has burst with the low, -4 ish temps during the last week, and it was only discovered when a neighbour complained to the council that her back garden was sodden wet. According to the workers the whole of the downstairs is ruined and some of the groundworks, recently completed, are unstable.

Oh what a nasty shock for the owners. They really should be keeping an eye on their empty property in these subzero temperatures.

I'll try and get a photo tomorrow. The poor people will be heartbroken as it is such a superb house.

Shocked that the water wasn't turned off until someone moved in! My brother visits his daughter in Australia for 3 months every year and the last thing they do is switch the water main off - just in case!

What a shame for the owners! :(
