It wasn't really a consultation, more of a stab at PR. Which failed miserably. The village would now lie in a "V" formed by the spur line to the rolling stock depot and the HS2 line, and people really ain't happy.
Yes WM, I went to school in Normanton and the sidings were massive, even then.
I suppose if we are going to talk about failures on the railway we'd have to go back to the Beeching report and see how many lines got the chop then that would be useful now.
