Hiding some money in the suitcase is a good idea Shaz. He can buy his own condoms! He said that when we go shopping together on Saturday he refuses to go into Ann Summers with me! Told him there's no need to worry about that-they do online mail-order!

So all that sorted and now I'm worrying about the dodgy balconies in some of the hotels. Told daughter the walls are too low and people fall off them so found photos of the hotel in TripAdvisor and the balconies have been built up with iron railings! Phew!

He'll be fine, you'll spend the week worrying, though!

Eldest went to Malia last July with a group of a dozen. He had a wow of a time although he went for 10 days which he admitted was a bit too long.

He turned 18 out there and came back minus his hair and eyebrows :shock:

I've seen the photos on Facebook and a lot of drink was consumed!

They do need to be careful about money, though. Between the group they had about £700 stolen (one lad lost £300 from the safe - he'd hidden the key in the microwave). It sounds to me like someone in the hotel was doing it but of course you can't prove what cash you had.

Luckily my son didn't lose anything but we had an arrangement where he had his bank debit card with him and he would text and ask me to pay in some money every few days. He got through a lot of money but if he'd lost his card or cash it wasn't the whole of his spending money gone. We also set up the Barclays "Pingit" system so if he lost his bank card I'd still be able to get money to him.

He texted me daily so I knew he was OK and one of his friends had my mobile number in case of emergency or him losing his phone. Obviously you need to let the phone company and bank know the dates of the holiday.

Oh goodness Fugi, I think I'm just a few years away from this with my two boys (I'm thinking Joe will be the one to go away with his friends first though!!).

I've never been to mainland Spain but had many a holiday in the Canaries from my late teens and into my 20s

John thought I'd died one night as I was draped over the bed in exactly the same position that I'd fallen onto the bed the night before... :oops:

That's decided....I'm burning Tom and Joe's passports immediately!!

That's a good idea Teaspoon-feeding money into his account bit by bit as needed. Daughter will like that. This whole trip is making us all laugh so much as each looming disaster crosses my mind. He is the oldest by two years Jo but his younger brother is far more streetwise than him and I never felt this protective when my Daughter took her first girlie group holiday to Corfu when she was seventeen and spent the week living on pink wine and jacket potatoes.

Makes it all worse because I watched the TV programme Holiday Hit Squad last night and more Majorcan disasters. All I can see now is him standing on a sea urchin, needing first aid, getting sunburn, professional thieves sending the girls in to distract the boys while they nick their wallets, food poisoning, dirty swimming pools.

You'd never think I've travelled all over the world listening to me faffing over him.

Now I'll have to warn him about the shaven head and no eyebrows! Gawd help us :!:

According to his mum, Mick came home from a rugby tour once minus his eyebrows - he made the mistake of falling asleep on the ferry and his mates took the opportunity :roll:

That was before I met him :lol:

I've asked him for other 'details' of his many tours over the years but got told "What goes on tour stays on tour"

I see! So this is what men like to do to other men is it? I'll have to make sure I've got the right shade eyebrow pencil so I can draw them in for him. Better idea I'll slip one into his suitcase in case he needs it
