Last night's flight....

Postby Ally » 12 Jul 2016, 07:36

....bonkers!

We were scheduled to fly home with Norwegian airlines (travelled with them before and they were fab. All the staff were male, looked like Morten Harket and wore black leather gloves to receive passengers and as we disembarked. Random..but appealed to my sense of humour! )

Anyway...Don got an email through the week to say our flight was changing airline to Wizz Air  but on arrival at Birmingham airport we found we were flying with Air Europa. Never used them before but no problem. :D

We get all comfy on the plane and this is where the fun began...

I have flown hundreds of times but never in my nelly duff have I come across flight attendants doing a 30 second safety procedure! :o

Basically the 3 blokes stood in the aisle, did the arm thing showing the emergency exits, donned the safety vest and piped up with: "az ve vill be flying across ze Med which is water you might need ziz vest. But don't panic. Blow ze whistle" as they proceeded to wave the little whistles in the air. :o

And that was it!

As only Don and I seemed to be taking any notice we were finding it hard to stifle our giggles.

But really??!!

Thank goodness it was an uber smooth flight and we did not need to have any cause for worry flying across ze water.

Coming back from Moscow on an Aeroflot flight (thankfully an Airbus 320) there was a "bing - bong" as we started to taxi. The little screens on the seat backs lit up with a picture of a lifebelt and down the side a list of languages to choose from. Once chosen a video started of a flight attendant doing the demonstration with sub-titles in the apropriate language. People actually watched, unlike when a human does it in the aisle. :o 8-) 8-)

When in France I will not bother with 1st or business class, I will use Champagne Airways instead, but when in Bulgaria I think that I will give Hell AS a miss. ;)

Frank, now you mention it Virgin Atlantic show a video on the seatback screen too, they do also have flight attendants waving their arms about though but most info comes from the video.

Last time we flew BA they had the seatback screens showing the safety film as well as the arm waving trolley dollies.

I prefer watching the humans as it reminds me of a Scottish comedy in the 90's called The High Life with Alan Cumming. I loved it!
