I'm loving these stories - so funny

I've always said if I ever got married I'd want a registry service (as you do) and then a silver service picnic in a park :D

We said afterwards that if we had, we'd have decamped to our venue for the wedding breakfast as planned, had the party, then slipped back at the earliest opportunity and done the official bit quietly

My own wedding had nothing go wrong, mostly. My uncle was a retired Methodist minister, and neither of us being particularly religious I wanted him to marry us. Apparently it's a no no to get in your own minister into someone else's church, but he gave us a list of his old cronies who were still working and we went church shopping, and settled on the one closest to home.
Everything was planned and sorted and then he retired, and the new minister said "normally I don't allow this, but since there is a family connection, and it's already arranged, I'll allow it. " phew.

We had a lovely ceremony, and when we signed the wedding license none of us really paid attention to where we were signing. Thankfully the best man was, as I almost legally married him, as hubby had signed as a witness, not the groom . If Michael had signed in the last remaining spot on the form, we would have been married. I still joke with him that he's my almost husband. We had already been living together for a couple of years so a "divorce" could have been interesting.
Everything happens for a reason
