Sometimes life gives that extra little twist of irony

Postby Suff » 30 May 2016, 12:37

As some of you know, the "company" I work for is kind of struggling to deliver the programme of projects I'm working on. The press has been very kind to us. Telling us that NASA managed to get a man on the moon faster than we're doing this work...

Back in March I was handed a piece of work to manage. It was a mess, had not been correctly handled and had no plan.

After they gave it to me I was told that it was being monitored by the Board of "the company" as RED and it was my job to bring that back to green. Basically because it has the knock on impact of pushing our delivery into 2018 if I fail.

Deep joy.

So, imagine my amusement, when some mid level Asian subcontinent, project manager, tells me that he "won't", not "can't", do what I ask. Because they've agreed that what I''m doing doesn't "follow the process" which was agreed.

I'm sure you can imagine my pleasure, as I informed him that he, alone, is now being escalated to said Board of "the company" as a critical blocking factor on my RED project and is stopping me from making us able to complete in 2017.....

Share the wealth is my motto. Why should I take all the pressure????
