£193bn lost ...

... to fraud.

That is how much the a report by the University of Portsmouth says fraud costs - £3,000 per head of population.

The vast majority of it, £144bn, is business fraud, mostly in procurement. The rest is in many other areas, including £5.4bn personal fraud; and the true overall cost might not be known.

It is an enormous amount of money and one would hope it is a priority for government to tackle, each day every day. I will not be holding my breath.

I guess you'll never eradicate human greed, especially in a capitalist-based society ......

Greed certainly seems to be more prevalent now than when I was a young man.

A trillion here a trillion threre, pretty soon yo are talking real money.

That's the same reality as the Billions statement all those years ago.

I had the greed discussion yesterday. I was told they only take the greedy ones because they get the work done, put up with the hassle and look to keep the relationship for more work.

It is an interesting viewpoint. ...

In that case we are no more greedy than the large consultancies and in reality significantly less. ..
There are 10 types of people in the world:
Those who understand Binary and those who do not.

These things are not greed, they are criminality in most cases, and slack oversight in many others - often aided and abetted by poorly drafted or over-complex laws.
