Grandson and Magaluf

Postby Fugitive » 12 Feb 2013, 17:03

So eighteen year old Grandson watched the drunken, debauched, vomiting in gutters, naked girls up for it, sleep deprived young people featured in the Holiday Hit Squad on TV last week and has booked up with a mate for a week in July! Of course he has!

Laughing all day with daughter as I say those hotel balconies aren't safe! He'll get sunburn! He'll be sick! He doesn't eat strange foods! He musn't have sex with a grubby girl!

Now he's asked me to go shopping with him on Saturday to buy his holiday gear! He doesn't go till July! He wants to buy plastic travel pots to put his Coco-Butter in! I tell him he can buy travel size bottles of his favourite products. He says 'But that's more expensive!'

This is the Grandson who doesn't even do sleepovers as he only likes his own bed!

Even worse he'll be there for his birthday!

Saundra! I joked with daughter and said I was contacting the Hotel Lively (Yes, that's the name of the hotel) to enquire if they had a Granny Flat I could stay in for the week!

Wicked comment about the Coco-Butter!

But you have to feel for Majorca customs officers...

"Wot thees?"
"Cocoa-butter pots"
"En thees?"
"Imodium -in case.."
"Ok. I no Imodiums, an thees?"
"Vests. One for wearing, one for the wash."
"Thees"
"Underpants, one pair for wearing, one"
"I no, I no! An thees?"
"Ah, they are, err, Digestive biscuits. Mum says that they are good for..."
"Shoot oop! You don belong 'ere. Go Bornmoth or som'place. This Magaluf! Next!"

So funny WM!

This Grandson is not Worldly-Wise. He had one steady girlfriend from school for a year so he does have a Bit of World.

He wants his birthday dinner out with us before he goes to Magaluf. We've said No because we know we'll be sitting across a restaurant table with a different and very Worldly-Wise young man when he gets back because by then he will have had a Lot of World.

I think I'm going to cry

Geez I'm glad Becky isn't going - that all I can say

On a serious note it's a shame these girls don't have a bit more self-respect :? Now I sound like my grandmother   I don't mean to, I did grow up and live and work in London in the 70s after all, I was no angel but did at least remain conscious for any of my adventures :?

I've been to Magaluf in the 1970's with Chef husband for a week's break. It was horrendous then! Drunks running up and down the stone floor corridors all night. Ghastly lets all join in hotel entertainment in the evenings and it didn't have the reputation then that it has now.

He's a lovely lad and needs to break away from his routine so hope he has fun, gets home safely and aspires to better travel destinations in the future. He's always stayed well within his comfort zone. Just wish it wasn't Magaluf as a starting point. On the other hand, he has to learn and Daughter and I have to let him Go!
