Well, that was a first for me

The meal tonight was ginormous    3 very large and thick turkey breast steaks   topped with mushrooms and a cream sauce, with the normal rice and chips - all for 7.50 :o :D :D :D

One steak came home with us     And I've just munched it - just as nice cold as it was hot

Sounds lovely, Ton.

But hardly a meal to go to bed on. You had better have a dance round the room now.

Are you ready........

Don't think I could Aggers - tummy rather full ;)

But I'll try..................

:Hi: :Hi: :Hi: :Hi: :Hi: :Hi:

Next week, we're trying a different restaurant we were told about tonight. 4 friends went there, 3 chicken, chips, rice and salad, one lamb chops, ditto. A litre and a half of wine, coffees, bread, olives etc, as is normal here.

36 euros

Oh goodness!

That reminds me of my first trip to San Jose, California.

So I am in the hotel in their mid afternoon, but my body says bedtime and I m hungry. Looking from the balcony I see a chicken joint sign, so off I go.

They don't do fries or chips, but mash and gravy is the side order. I order the three piece deal with side order.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

Eventually I get this massive box and go back to the hotel where I find: Three HUGE Southern fried chicken breasts, three tubs of gravy and three tubs of mash. I was up all night but eventually polished it all off.

Gannet

We'll try this restaurant next week and see.

Our friends go to one rather good (and expensive for around here) restaurant a couple of times a week   O Novo Coimbra. The steak, apparently, is gorgeous. Normal steak, not black pork.

So we'll try that in a week or so - when the kitchen is a mess, the garden is a mess and I just want to leave home

Restaurants in the US are super expensive.

Go for an Italian, Chinese, Greek etc. and you will pay a fortune. Go for fast food or to a Drive-in and they are well reasonable. The best deals, however, are in their Dives (pubs with food) - all you can eat and drink for pennies. ;)

€36 didn't sound bad for what you got. We are going out for a curry tomorrow (three of us) to celebrate Soph's placement in London. £50 should see us all with starter, main and afters, plus a few drinks.
