... New Zealand has opted to retain its traditional flag design with the Union Jack! 8-)

I quite liked the silver fern design, I must admit !

I'm actually a tad surprised - I really would have thought they'd change it... same as you Ossie, I quite like the fern design.

I liked the fern too. I'm a bit annoyed about it all to be honest. There was all this talk about how they would prefer the $23m to be spent on other things rather than a flag referendum, therefore voting no, forgetting the money had been spent already.
And the other big argument was that the soldiers in the wars fought under this flag, therefore don't change it, forgetting that all graves have the silver fern on it, and they fought so that we may be free, free to choose our destiny.

Sheep. Mutter.



I would have liked the Union Jack on there somewhere still as we are a commonwealth country, but the new one felt more us. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement.
