Oh what a sad week for your OH, Victor. Over here, funerals happen quite quickly unlike the UK. Someone we know was found dead at home recently, on a Tuesday. I think the pm happened the next day and the funeral was on the Saturday. Also over here, it takes an extra day if there is to be a cremation, so as there was a cremation in that case, it took it to Saturday. When my brother died in London in 1992, it was almost three weeks to the funeral as the August bank holiday was in the middle of it, here in Ireland we found that long wait very strange.

I'm so sorry to hear this Vic, sending my condolences xxx

Mum had to have a PM and it took around three weeks from her death to the funeral, but having said that it was over Christmas and New Year, so that adds in delay. I think probably at least a fortnight though, as even without a PM the average seems to be about 10 days to a fortnight.

The long wait here is awful, I think it should be sooner :(

I don't know why it takes so long nowadays, it rarely ever used to, but
three or four weeks seems to be the norm here now.
Sorry to hear your sad news, Vic.

Awful week for you Vic - both of you have a huge huge hug from me xx

With regards to the bowel cancer, there are some very good treatments out there now and hoping it's been caught early enough for her xx

Sorry to hear your sad news, Vic.

I'd concur with what everyone else has says - two weeks if you're lucky, three weeks more the norm. When my father died of an unexpected heart attack, it was early December, and we were fortunate to have the funeral conducted before the Christmas holidays.
