A day of ups and downs

Postby tonicha » 12 Mar 2016, 17:40

Burnt my hand yesterday (4th time    ) on the fire.

Today, it is rather painful, but I really really tried to do some gardening, but too sore.

So sat in the sun, with a book :Hi: :Hi: :Hi:

The cheese we'd bought at the market was rock hard   so spent ages grating it, and it's now in the freezer.

Popped down to the bar, Jose had forgotten to order our rolls :cute: :cute:

But the cheese lady turned up, so bought some scrummy cheese.

Then the (good) veg man arrived, so bought a kilo of broad beans so I can make favas com chourizo tomorrow :Hi: :Hi: :Hi:

Then found out the Bertalina had fallen over last Saturday, chasing a chicken    and broken her leg. She's in her 80's and her poor husband is completely lost without her, but all the locals and neighbours are feeding him, his sons and one grandson have moved up and are taking him to Beja hospital every day.

And the three muskateers, Alberto, Tiago and the other one whose name I have no idea how to pronounce, arrived, with their "summer" hair-cuts 8-) 8-) Lots of hilarity, as their hair is normally quite long (for Portuguese gentlemen) and they were all dressed in the Sunday best, as it was a special event.

I can honestly say, I love love love living here    :D :D :D

Keep that hand clean when you're gardening Ton, burns are nasty if they get infected

Sorry to hear about Bertalina, broken bones can be a worry at that age :(

Shame about Bertalina and the rolls but it's good to see it's going to be endlessly entertaining :D

Clingfilm Ton, for burns, works like magic.
Under running water asap, as usual. Pat dry then wrap loosely in clingfilm, over the whole area. You can put a glove over it while you're not using it, but not tight.

Being a dozy bint, I licked it yesterday and it was fine.

This morning, it's rather nasty - and then, of course, being that dozy bint again, off I go gardening, as in pulling up estevas and lavender    and it hurt, so I stopped

Not the first time I've done it and I'm, sure it won't be that last, but this was on a knuckle, so not a lot of skin.

Never mind, we'll soon be too hot to have a fire ;)
