Morning. Ingliston park & ride like a skating rink this morning. The young woman in front of me panicked and lost it. Spun the car right over my lane then got stuck one wheel either side of the kerbed central reservation.

Cleared the danger spot, parked, walked back and talked her through backing the front of the car over the kerb on full lock.

She was clearly shocked and panicking. I don't blame her, she very nearly rolled it.

What really irked me was that everyone just drove past her and left her to cope, panicking, stuck, right in the middle of an icy danger spot.

I saw at least 5 cars struggling to get round the bend and avoid her car, yet nobody so much as even checked if the woman was OK.

I'm wondering what kind of society we are living in today? ?? :( :(

Morning all :D

That was really kind of you Suff, I'm sure she was very grateful for your help.

It's raining here and the boys have declared it's crying because they're going home

We had a lovely day yesterday, lots of running on the beach followed by a trip down thehttp://www.ramsgatetunnels.org/index.htmlIt's amazing to think of so many people being sheltered here during the war. We've been planning to visit the tunnels since we moved here, so pleased we finally got to do it. Afterwards it was more time on the beach before we finished with a trip to Sorbetto. Oh and of course I should mention every day wouldn't be complete for the boys without an hour playing cards with us. Their favourite game is 8's and you can just imagine how loud that gets with 'miss a go' and 'pick up two'. Noah has always needed help, but 'now I'm almost 6 Nanny I can manage on my own' and yes he can

Z should be here around 12ish so after lunch they'll be back off home. Have a strong suspicion we'll collapse for the rest of the day..........and probably tomorrow too

Hope you all have a good day :D

Morning everyone

A bit chilly this morning and overcast.

Suff, that was very kind of you. If it had happened in Portugal, you'd have had virtually every passing car, pedestrian stopping to help.

We're off kitchen shopping later :Hi: :Hi: :Hi: :Hi: I have no idea what I'm going to have, will just wait and see what they've got :D :D

Near where we're going - Odemira - there is a Lidl and Aldi, so we'll be popping into both, to stock up on stuff we can'«t get in Ourique.

Jen, they'll have great memories of their time with you - and all that ice-cream :D :D

Enjoy your day everyone xx

Morning Ally, enjoy your chill day :)

Morning Suff, that was very kind of you, she must have been very shaken! It is a shame that nobody else stopped to help, but luckily you did! x

Morning Jen, I am sure you will need a few quiet days to recover, but what fun you have with your grandsons! :D :Hi:

Well Harry is coming tonight, for the last couple of days of the half tern :D Will be lovely to have him here, he hasn't been since Christmas, due to his busy social life, although we did of course see him for his birthday, over in Staines

It's a gorgeous bright sunny day today, after the rain and muck of yesterday, so I'm steaming my hard floors to get rid of the muddy paw prints, stripping the beds as I didn't get it done Monday, and then up to Sainsbury's later with B as she has today off :)

Have a good day everyone :) xxx

ETA Morning Ton, have a nice time kitchen shopping! Looking forward to hearing about it later :D

I often wonder that, too, Suff. But there are still a few caring people about.

Well, it's a lovely sunny morning here, and we are off on a walk into town shortly.
It looks too inviting to miss,

Hope you all have a happy day.

Morning you lot

Suff; I'm not surprised no-one stopped... it really is a sad society we live in now-a-days as there are just too many people with a 'me me me' attitude that just don't give a hoot about anyone else. And I bet you nearly every one of those drivers that didn't stop was muttering 'what a stupid idiot' under their breath.

Jen, the time with the boys sounds amazing. They'll treasure these memories for years to come. I never really got to know my grandparents like that as we lived in SA and they were in Germany and we hardly ever saw them. Enjoy every moment with your lot :D

Ton, enjoy the kitchen shopping... what fab fun :D

Aggers, Kaz and Ally, enjoy your respective days and Kaz enjoy having Harry with you for the next few days :D

Usual work day and evening for me :)

have a lovely day all xxx

Promise I won't do another long post today....

Frightened. She was, quite literally, sitting there shaking and wondering what to do. I'm sure she was so scared that she didn’t even wonder if I was a nice person or not.

I have 3 daughters, 2 of whom drive. I would hope that if they had a similar incident that someone would stop for them. All she really needed was a bit of advice on how to get the car over the kerb and back onto the carriageway. It was one of those paved, 3 food wide, road separation areas and the car was completely straddling it although, at least, pointing the right way.

If you’d seen it you would expect her to panic. I drive a 2 ton car which handles like a barge in the ice and snow, I felt my back end break away and immediately controlled it and started to dump speed, when I immediately had to avoid a car which was coming from my left, spinning and out of control. It was touch and go as to whether I hit her or not. Then her car slammed into the kerb and bounced over it, still spinning and came to a stop facing the right way again. I’m sure a lot of people who have never experienced that kind of thing would be absolutely terrified.

When I walked up she’d been racing the engine and trying to use the power of the engine to get herself out of it. A losing proposition in ice and snow. I calmed her a bit then got her to put a full right hand lock on and…. Slowly…. Back the car up onto the kerb. She kept racing the engine and I had to calm her again. Then I got her to slowly drive forward and drag the back wheel over and stop again. I gave her a bit of general advice about how to handle this kind of thing (no brakes, steer gently, don’t hit the accelerator) and sent her off to park then walked back to my car.

I was quite impressed with her in the end. She should have rolled the car when she hit the kerb, I was expecting it and prepared to take avoiding action so I didn’t make the situation worse, but she managed to control it enough to just be stuck. When she left she was calmer and not racing the engine any more. I would not have been surprised if she had been in total pieces. I was prepared to park the car for her, if needed, but it was really better for her own confidence if she drove it herself.

Ah well, my bit of excitement for the day. We spend a dull 2 hours arguing over inbound and outbound dependencies for a long list of activities of which the most common comment was “what does that really mean”…

Back to dull boring project management work.
