Kaz, I'd say a very serious wounding or a death. Although you should have seen the body going out if it was a death.

As there was no noise you heard, most likely to be knives which is what most of these incidents are.

They would not close off the scene and do the whole walk down unless one party (however many), left the one you saw going into the ambulance and the person who's injured is very serious or there has been a death.

Sadly the police think of the purity of their investigation before the risk to residents. However if there is an on-going risk, they should increase patrols and you will be able to see that.

I do have some sympathy with the whole purity of the investigation thing, the courts are so hostile to the police that they go overboard in trying to ensure that their investigation has no loopholes. I know this stuff from #1 son who's arrest to conviction rate was 76% which was the joint highest in Grampian at the time. He told me that the solicitors actually advised their clients based on who had arrested them, as to whether they might try to challenge on a technicality...

Not very much comfort for you though... If you really are worried, you might want to look up "dog" pepper spray for Becks. It may keep dogs away, but Humans won't like it either.

Kaz - I can understand your concern, but if it is indeed a serious incident, I can also understand
that the police have to devote all their attention to the job in hand and cannot afford the time
to deal with concerned residents. I'm sure all will be revealed in due course.

Yes I understand that, but I am surprised that the police didn't even want to ask us if we heard or saw anything. That photo was lateish on this morning Saundra, last night there were at least 6 vehicles and lots of police, including some in white forensic suits. It was very unsettling, although I realise it was probably a one-off, at least I hope so!

It was a stabbing, youngsters, a 16 year old with serious but not life-threatening neck injuries and two 15 year olds arrested.

Thanks Ossie, yes very close to home, the area where we are in Gloucester the Elmbridge/Longlevens area is quiet and mostly private housing, not much trouble at all! There is a knife problem in Gloucester, ironically there is a knife amnesty going on in the city right now :/ No house to house enquiries so far at all, pretty poor if you ask me!

The local BBC Facebook page asked Mick if they could use his photo! There was a journalist out there this morning, just as Mick got back from walking the dogs round the block and they got talking.

Kaz I was aware of that, but sometimes things are quite different on the ground floor as opposed to the 3rd floor. You were talking to ground floor animals.

I've been aware for a while about the divide between "spreadsheet policing" enthusiasts between the ranks. Although it does provide opportunities. Like the Elgin PC who achieved over 900 stop and search in one month. 30% on children under the age of 10....... Good stats if not good policing... As they work 4 days on and three days off (last I recall), that was over 900 in around 18 days. An average of around 50 per day. Industrious fellow, must have gone for bulk to get that many...

Thinking about the tents etc. Given that there was no murder and there were eye witnesses, I wonder what they are so industriously looking for???
