Ton.....
A text editor is like a jotter for you to make small notes, or even long ones. As Ria says every Windows computer has one called Notepad and another, WordPad.
To open either click on the Start button then on Run... and type in Notepad or WordPad then click OK. When it opens if you right click its icon on the taskbar you can Pin the program to the taskbar so it is always available.
Now you can type away to your heart's content and save posts to a folder on your computer, even when the Internet is down, so you can post later.
Ctrl+a, Ctrl+c and Ctrl+v are clipboard commands, but if the computer crashes the clipboard is wiped and nothing gets saved. They can still be used with Notepad when all is well and are a quick alternative to the R Click mouse commands Select all, Copy and Paste.
Using a text editor is a hangover from dial-up days when being connected was hit and miss, at best, but it is also a great way of saving snippets for posting to message boards, and Twitbook etc.
