I must be bonkers

Postby Weka » 21 Jan 2016, 09:32

Tomorrow, I will have 10 children in my home. I have no idea for how long. They range in age from 4 to 9.

And it's suppose to rain. I hope not.
I also have a Gardner coming.

Why oh how did this all end up on the same day?
Easy.

Tonight I have a friends girl staying the night. She has never ever slept outside of her bedroom, she's 8. Her twin has autism, and they are the ones caring for their nephew. So when she is picked up, that's 4 + my 2.
Another friend is wondering if her 4 year old is autistic/aspie. (I think so) so shes coming too so other friends can cast her eye over him.

4+2+3

Then the emergency case. Another friends 4 year old son came out of hospital today after a brain bleed after hitting his head. He now needs to be kept very quiet, I said to his mum his sister should come on over. After all, what's one more?

4+2+3+1 = 10.
With 2 maybe 3 adults. (Well she looked after my kids on Tuesday while I was at class, so it's my turn to have hers).

Thankfully the Gardner is a "friend" also (wife of our builder who we now know quite well). And her main day job is a Nanny. I might be saying "tools down, HELP".

If it's not raining, I'm thinking water balloons, slip 'n slide, sprinkler...

Or playdoh. Ummmmmmmm????? Free play? Lol. Wish me luck. Ideas gratefully accepted especially for indoor activities

LOL Weka, I'm not sure I quite follow the numbers but I believe you and yes indeed - mad mad mad :)

depending on the ability of the kids what about making cup cakes for them to decorate? Lego? or just let them get on with it and be prepared to have to tidy up an unholy mess in whatever room you've let them loose in

Oh, and make sure you have a bottle of wine in the fridge for when it's all over

good luck

PS: so in total how many potential Aspies will you have - for them I'd just say make sure they have somewhere quiet they can escape to and monitor them a bit closer so you can lead them away them from the group if you think it's geting too be too much / loud / busy for them... preventing a melt down is easier than dealing with one. And hopefully the parents of the aspie's will have given clear instructions about what they will and won't eat and just how they like their meal presented.

As you say what's one more
Good luck you might need to lay down in a dark room when they eventually all go home
Hope you have good weather xx

I've survived. it was a fab day, so hot and sunny I was reapplying sunscreen every 2 hours.

No tantrums, only tears were from my kids in fact only naughty behaviour was from my kids and even then it was pretty mild.

Kids are sound asleep already!!
