Remember the parking ticket?

Postby miasmum » 07 Feb 2013, 22:53

The one I got for parking in a disabled bay, which I would have paid, had they not got the registration number wrong, rendering it invalid?

We wrote and told them the number was wrong and they wrote back with photographic evidence and a new ticket with a different serial number on but the right reg number. They cannot legally enforce anything but the original ticket, which is unenforceable with the reg number wrong. So we wrote and told them that and also pointed out that the car is registered for disabled use and we do have a blue badge. They wrote back again and asked for photocopies of the tax disc and the blue badge. So we duly sent them.

Today they have written to say they are not prepared to waive the ticket still, but they will now accept the reduced sum of £15 of which they will donate 10% to a disabled charity.

As we are obviously now into bartering I am so tempted to offer £10 and half a dozen free range eggs 8-) 8-)

Any credibility they had has flown right out the window. All they are trying to do is recoup a small percentage of their fee. They know they don't have a leg to stand on, but how that letter made me laugh

Copy the letter. Send one to Theresa May at the Home Office, one to the DM and one to your Council leader, and in your cover letter tell them what you have done: CC them all.

Then sit back with a nice glass of Pinot Grigio and wait...

And if you offer to send £1.50 to Mencap, or similar, that should sort it.

  Shell, it's a shame you don't have a horse or a bull - you could have offered them some 'by product' for the municipal rose beds :P

Ha ha, although they are a private company, it's not a Council car park, or I would have to pay

   Aren't they silly??

My blood was boiling last night when we came out of Asda, we followed a young couple out - they had their pizzas, wine and beer for the night and seemed in very high spirits - and when we got by the disabled parking, he jumped into a white works van and she hopped into a very sleek little sports car parked right next to it...parked in two disabled bays. We were close enough to see that neither had a badge displayed.
