Knock on the door just now, it is S from below.

If my floors and joists need work in the bathroom and kitchen it means their ceilings will have to come down as well. Their landlord is livid as he has only had things replaced in those rooms last summer.

What the **ck has that to do with me? I didn't bring the woodworm in to eat the place to powder.

Seriously pi55ed off with things atm, I can do without this.

THEIR landlord needs to speak to YOUR landlord directly and not rely on respective tenants to communicate on their behalf. Even better the respective insurances need to communicate and agree so things can progress and be repaired with unnecessary delay

As for waiting until after Christmas / New Year for repairs to commence - I'd do the same, makes total sense

Good luck

Definitely what Ria said - this is for the landlords and insurance companies to sort out!! They shouldn't expect you and downstairs to sort out their dirty work for them! :?

Ria, Kaz, I absolutely agree re sorting the problem out, and that is what is happening, but as neighbours we also need to talk to each other.

This could affect us all and we need to provide a united front to our landlords and their insurers.

I could not care less for the problems our respective landlords have with their BTL properties. They make a good living from us tenants, but we are friends as well as neighbours and need to stick together.

I like and work well with my landlords and know that they will do whatever it takes to sort this problem out.

It is not my fault, nor theirs, it is one of those problems we sometimes have to deal with.

Sorry Frank, from what you'd posted it sounded as though it was causing hassle between you, I'm pleased if it isn't xx

Definately a job for new year. I think I'd quietly start looking for a new flat though. (I wonder if there's a new build nearby empty enough to accommodate all the neighbours...)

I understand where you are coming from but I really do not want to move, Weka. I live in a lovely quiet area with good neighbours and links to the city or countryside and I am unlikely to find a similar place in this part of Leeds for the same price.

Are there just the two flats in the property, WM, or are other folk potentially affected as well?

There are four flats per unit, Ossie.

The units look like very large semis from the front and each flat has two bedrooms, study area, living room, bathroom/toilet as well as a good sized kitchen. They were designed that way so have not been adapted. At least two of the other flats have had woodworm problems and treatment over the years. I am not sure about next door on my level as he works away, sometimes for weeks on end.

Osc, it is not only the time of year... I am still in the process of decorating the whole place. That now gets put on hold. It's life, and it goes on. :)
